WE ALL DID IT!

People power, community power and pure determination has put an end to disastrous North $toneville.

Every deputation, banner, sticker, Facebook like and more has contributed to this historic result!

Today we have laid the foundations for a Perth Hills future that is not urban sprawl, that protects Perth’s backyard for everyone and keeps the Perth Hills region safer. The Perth Hills are not to be urbanised.

To every Save Perth Hills Chair and committee member who has been involved over the past 26 years, this one is for you 🤩

3 strikes and surely out!

 ...and FROM THE WAPC 👇

The Western Australian Planning Commission’s (WAPC) Statutory Planning Committee met earlier today, resolving to refuse the draft North Stoneville Structure Plan No.34 (SP34).

Refusal of the application was on the basis that the applicant did not convince the Committee that the proposal meets the intent and objectives of State Planning Policy 3.7 Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas.

During the meeting, the Committee received deputations from 13 parties, including the developer Satterley Property Group, the Shire of Mundaring and local community groups. The Committee also noted a number of written deputations that were received.

The Committee’s decision is consistent with recommendations of both the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Shire of Mundaring, and considered advice provided by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Minutes of the meeting will be published online at www.dplh.wa.gov.au/wapc by Friday,

 24 July 2020.

WAPC Deputations
This is your time to have your say about YOUR Perth Hills!

Whether you live in Perth’s Hills or not - this one is for you. Please - write a submission why a Satterley suburban-style townsite, of more than 4000 people and 1450 houses - some just 300 sqm, inside a proven Extreme Bushfire Zone, is so god-damn WRONG for Perth’s Hills.

Please help Save Perth Hills - for all of us 😊

MORE GOOD NEWS!!

With just 6 more sleeps until the WA Planning Commission (WAPC) decides on the dangerous North Stoneville plan, our Shire Councillors have sent yet another strong SIGNAL against urbanisation in the Hills.

Tonight they voted UNANIMOUSLY to lodge a Scheme Amendment with the WAPC to REZONE the North Stoneville land back to RURAL!

This is a very important and timely vote that WILL hold weight when the WAPC considers their judgement on North Stoneville on 14 July.

Save Perth Hills has also lodged its own rezoning Scheme Amendment. Our report can be found here  Scheme Ammendment      Deed

9th July is the last day to get your statements AGAINST North Stoneville to us - saveperthhillsinc@gmail.com

AND!!! On TUESDAY JULY 14 - JOIN US to hear the result!!

We’ll be outside the WAPC - 1-2pm on the corner of Murray St Mall and William Street Perth!

Time is running out!

Please write your deputations . We need to send them off by Thursday 9 th July

To the many of you who have already sent them in THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

The community engagement from Satterley and the Anglican Diocese of Perth has been an utter disaster in regards to proposed North $toneville. From the get-go, their Structure Plan has not taken into account the wishes or the safety of the community. It has completely neglected the needs of the environment.

end this.png

Communication with the Anglican Diocese has been consistently pushed to Satterley who have ploughed on regardless despite overwhelming community opposition. Community concerns have been dismissed multiple times. For these two organisations they face an almost unstoppable wave of community discontent. Their urbanisation plans are out-of-date and irrelevant in 2020.

Our beautiful city and its hills backyard deserves MUCH BETTER than a cookie cutter sales job by a developer!

No matter the Satterley spin, a bad idea is a BAD idea. The community here gets that. Here at SPH HQ, we are LOVING seeing the deputations roll in. We still need more though. Can you get your deputation statement added to the growing list?? Time is running out!

We aim to send written statements from this amazing community to the WAPC as part of their final judgement on this proposed structure plan. We are required to submit this off by Thursday 9th of July.

The hills is no place for cookie cutter urban estates!

Once it's gone, it's gone...

 We ALL get this.

You can't bring back the bush the way it was.

Once the hilltops have been levelled, the forest cut down, the habitat of eagles, chuditch etc, cleared, the streams replaced with culverts and pipes, the roads set with bitumen and kerbs... there is no going back.

Worse than that, it sets a precedent for more of the same.

This is one fight we cannot lose.

This is NOT a drill... It's our once-in-a-generation chance to say, 'we can do better...'

Sending Save Perth Hills your written statement within the next 3 days is the action you can take.

You made your message clear to the Shire of Mundaring in 2019. Now, the WA Planning Commission (WAPC) needs to hear it too. The time to ACT is NOW.

If you are only able to contribute ONE THING to this fight, make it this! For those who have been worn down by process before, this time round is DIFFERENT. We are being heard, but we simply must demonstrate to the powers-that-be watching this issue that the community remains resolute. To the youth, we know you get it. The kids have stood up, written deputations, spoken in front of the community, painted banners and more... we invite them to do so again, here 👇

We are required to submit all community deputations by this coming Thursday the 9th of July.

 Once it's gone, it's gone....

Last year, Nigel Satterley was quoted as saying:

"The boundaries are set in my opinion. So, in the North up to Yanchep, Two Rocks. Then you go across to the foothills in the east up to Bullsbrook. So we’re saying that will be the boundaries most likely for the next 40-50 years."

What the heck, Nigel? Proposed North $toneville goes deeper into the hills than any other development of its nature. It is considerably further out than other urban developments none of which have the density suggested for SP34.

We need YOUR help! Can you dust off your last deputation on this issue to Save Perth Hills within the next 4 days? We want to send written statements from this amazing community to the WAPC as part of their final judgement on this proposed structure plan. We are required to submit this off by Thursday 9th of July.

The hills are no place for urban estates and urban sprawl.

⚠️Remember the fires... Black Saturday, Black Summer, Parkerville/Stoneville 2003, 2008, 2014 🔥

Fire prevention comes down to good planning and North $toneville is the worst kind planning. Suburbia in a high risk fire zone = disaster.

Can you get your deputations to Save Perth Hills in the next 5 days?

We need as many deputations we can get by next Thursday 9th of July so we can send to the WAPC.

You know all the talking points on this critical issue but we'll be counting down to the 9th so as many deputations can be sent in as possible. Can you help us match or even increase the nearly 1000 letters sent to the Shire of Mundaring in January 2019?

‼️BREAKING NEWS‼️ 1st July

JULY 14 IS JUDGEMENT DAY for the Anglican Church’s North Stoneville Disaster Plan.

PLEASE Write your deputations and email to us ASAP - saveperthhillsinc@gmail.com

We will submit them on behalf of the Community. Get all your family to write one each!

🙏 Thank You - EVERYONE - who has already emailed us amazing deputations!

✅Keep them coming!

If you need inspiration - our community is acutely aware that Bushfire Risks make the North Stoneville Disaster Plan impossible.

Putting 4,000 extra people into a permanent Extreme Bushfire Zone is madness - and potentially deadly.

The site has only two evacuation roads - Stoneville and Roland Roads.

We know from the 2003, 2008 and 2014 bushfires that one road will be compromised by the fire, emergency vehicles and smoke, potentially TRAPPING 4000 people.

Please, put your fingers to the keyboard or pen to paper and tell the WA Planning Commission that the North Stoneville plan is dangerous and must be rejected.

The Government has a Duty of Care to keep us, the community, safe.

And - stay tuned! There’s even more ACTION coming up for us! Details soon!

reminder 1.png

⚡️ CRUNCH TIME!!! ⚡️     28th July

In about 4 weeks, and after 26 years, the Anglican Church and $atterley’s North Stoneville PLANNING DISASTER will face, we hope, its FINAL Judgement Day.

Over to you, our Faithful Followers! 🤩

In January 2019, almost 1,000 of us wrote to Mundaring Shire, dead against proposed North $toneville.

Our Councillors listened, and now the Shire of Mundaring is moving towards a future that protects Perth’s Hills, and its community, from urbanisation in a fire prone area.

But, we need the WA Planning Commission to reject North Stoneville forever.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Please write a Deputation (short letter), explaining why North $toneville is a planning disaster and needs to be rejected. This is not a drill! It is an urgent call-to-action and it is time to GET CRACKING!

CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME TIPS?

 - You can simply update your brilliant 2019 submission to the Mundaring Shire!

 - Or, use our Fact Sheet and Template to write a new one 😊

Please email your deputation to us at:

saveperthhillsinc@gmail.com or post to Save Perth Hills PO Box 33, Stoneville, WA 6081 and we will present your deputation to the WAPC - on behalf of this incredible Community. (That’s all of you 😉)

Ask us questions if you need help! We’re here to help you - because you’re helping Our Community!

FINAL NOTE: Can you get ALL your family to write one each! Your friends, neighbours, work colleagues, local businesses and anyone else you can think of. The Hills need us now more than ever.

 Once it's gone, it's gone!
