Sunday, 22 March, 10am-12pm, Forrest Place Perth

Our awesome supporters often ask - how can we help, while we wait - and wait - and WAIT for the North $toneville decision?

How about waving Save Perth Hills' banners high!

Save Perth Hills is joining our good friends, and supporters, Save the Black Cockatoos, in an Australia-wide Rally for forest protection – including Mundaring Shire’s Jarrah forests.

And right here in $toneville, 60,000 trees, many 200 years old and habitat to Endangered Black Cockatoos, are under threat by $atterley’s bulldozers.

We’re thinking of hiring a bus, depending on numbers. You keen? An optional $10 donation for a return-trip from Mundaring’s Sculpture Park. (depart 8.30am - return 1.00pm).

Email us - admin@saveperthhills.net and let us know!

Bring your family, friends, and your magnificent SPH banners!

And please wear black and bring a black umbrella, to make a giant Black Cockatoo! We'd LOVE to see you all there!

Message from: Save the Black Cockatoos

Join Save the Black Cockatoos and many other community groups in a Nationwide march to stand up for our forests.

Here in the West, the biggest threat to our precious and unique jarrah forests is bauxite mining. Last year 59,000 people responded to the callout for submissions in relation to Alcoa’s expansion plans which would see a further 11,500 ha of our irreplaceable forests being strip mined. Let our government know that we mean business and we are not okay with these US mining giants making up their own rules.

We also expect better than the slap on the wrist that this US mining giant got for its recently exposed illegal clearing practices. Instead of shutting the operation down, Alcoa have been granted exemptions from Federal nature laws so that they can continue their unlawful clearing of this black cockatoo habitat, and risk contaminating our drinking water.

Join us at 10am, 22 March at Forrest Place in the city to make our voices heard. Wear black and bring a black umbrella so that we can form a giant black cockatoo as part of the action. Facebook event link: bit.ly/March-for-forests-PERTH

Please share with friends and family.
