Change is in the Air?

A 720 ABC Radio Planning Forum this week heard that Perth’s urban sprawl is over... just as well, given it is an embarrassing 150kms long from (Dawesville to Two Rocks). WA’s NEW planning mantra is Build UP not OUT, and around train stations connected to transport hubs. So where does this leave ‘North $toneville’ - apart from being 26 kms away from the nearest train station? Planning Minister Rita Saffioti said on the show: We can’t continue building new suburbs... the environmental impact of clearing hectares for new housing is significant... Does Rita mean, for example, North $toneville’s 200+ bush hectares (more than half of Kings Park) earmarked for bulldozing for $atterley’s 1500 houses and 4000+ people? Is this ANOTHER nail in North $toneville’s coffin? We all know the plan is dangerous and destructive - but with this new urban approach for our city, it also looks like a dinosaur Outa date! Outa step! Outa time!! C’mon $atterley - save your reputation, and our lives. It’s time to pack up your appeal, and your Anglican Church business partner!

A huge Thank You to the 40 SPH supporters who turned up to our Annual General meeting last Wednesday night AND to the over 1000 others who watched the live stream - courtesy of local champ Owen Briffa from Lost Mundaring & Surroundings Local History Museum and his Mundaring Media Network.

This is a phenomenal audience as we re-capped an incredible year in our community’s fight against $atterley and the Anglican Church’s dangerous and destructive North Stoneville proposal.

We also thank our local pollies - Tania Lawrence - WA Labor for Hasluck, Fed Greens Hasluck candidate Brendan Sturcke, and long time supporter Ken Wyatt the Federal member for Hasluck who provided a video of support from Canberra.

It was also great to see Shire President James Martin, Dep Pres Paige McNeil and councillors Daw, Jeans and Cuthbert.

We still have plenty to do because as we know, $atterley is just waiting for us to run out of puff... which is a bummer for Nigel and his Anglican mates because we are just warming up.

To all of you supporting this marathon, your ongoing support - and interest, makes all the hard work worthwhile!!

You remember Ray $tokes, right?

He was Secretary of WA’s Planning Commission, 3 times, between 2001 - 2006 during the earlier days of North $toneville.

Later, $atterley recruited Ray as their PRIZED ‘PLANNING DIRECTOR’ - in charge of NORTH $TONEVILLE!

We remember Ray well.

Ray was at the ONLY meeting $atterley ever had with us, back in March 2019, when $atterley Exec$ told us they plan to just wait for Save Perth Hills to ‘run out of steam’, and then move on North $toneville.

But, after 30 YEARS’ fighting dangerous North $toneville plans, SPH - and our Community, are running FULL STEAM AHEAD!

But not Ray it seems...

For the last year, Ray dutifully turned up at EVERY Appeal, leading $atterley’s charge to reverse the REJECTION of their DISASTER PLAN.

Until this week...

Where was Ray?

He usually sits next to $atterley’s lawyer, Paul McQueen.

But not this week.

So where’s Ray?

Was Ray made REDUNDANT for not getting North $toneville over the line?

Or did Ray RETIRE because HE ran out of steam?

All good questions... anyhow, here's a short video of our last Ray-encounter just after the Wooroloo Bushfires, when Ray, uncharacteristically, was lost for words outside SAT.
